Capital Camera: FOTA raises over $2K at annual event
The Friends of the Arts held a recent business meeting at Cafe Mezzanotte in Severna Park to finalize plans for their 10th annual Card and Game Party, which was held March 20. Donations for raffle and silent auction were collected. This year’s event, including a silent auction, prize raffle and 50-50 drawing, raised $2,153 to be applied to the FOTA Scholar. The speaker was local artist, chef, jeweler, chandler, beekeeper and teacher Linda Elliott. She spoke about her many interests and brought samples for the Friends to enjoy. FOTA has been fundraising for the arts for more than 30 years. Its meetings and trips are on the second Tuesday from September through June, and its members invite anyone who would like to learn more about membership to contact Membership Secretary Aileen Thomas at 410 266-8784 or FriendsoftheArts@excite.com.
